30 Days to Declutter Your Life Free Your Mind

Clutter in our external world / environment has a huge impact on our internal world. When we have a lot of clutter in our world, it can lead us to being distracted, unfocused, procrastinating, feeling indecisive, feeling stressed, anxiety & overwhelm.

Have you ever noticed that in the past when you have had a space in your house or your office that was full of clutter & is really messy? So much so that when you were in that space, you would suddenly feel a struggle to think clearly, you get distracted easily, you procrastinated, you start to feel your tolerance to stress is lower than usual but then once you have decluttered that space & cleaned the area, you suddenly feel calmer, you feel like you have space to breathe , your clarity comes back & your creativity is better. Clutter effects your physical & mental well being & overloads your senses which is where the stress & anxiety build up & things feel out of control.

Something I noticed with many of my clients who have lots of clutter in their lives, they often feel anxiety, high levels of overwhelm, lost & feel stuck in their business or life. They struggle to complete tasks, things fall in to the too hard basket more often than not, getting clients feels challenging, managing the workload feels challenging, creativity is blocked & they notice that more challenges are coming up which adds more stress into their lives. They often find themselves distracted & scrolling on social media or binge watching things because everything feels too much. Part of the reason is there is so much stuck & full / heavy energy which has no where to go so it just builds up. Lots of these problems can be reduced by clearing the clutter whether it is physical, emotional, digital or mental clutter, it all has the same effect.

I am going to share 5 tips to help you Declutter your life and your home.

  1. Start Small

Take one step at a time, when we try to solve the whole problem at once it can overwhelm our nervous system. I will include access to a 30 Declutter Your Life Challenge that you may want to take part in to help break it down & focus one day at a time

  2.   Share Your Goal

Our goals & intensions can often be easier when we share it with someone else for accountability. If you are working with a coach, get them to hold you accountable or enrol your friends into what you are doing & you never know they may want to do it with you & make it FUN!

  3. Start With The Easy Stuff

Don't focus on the hard things to declutter & clear out when you very first start. Choose the easier things so that you can start seeing the wins which then gives you the motivation to keep going.

  4. Write Down Your Why

Having a compelling why is great for helping us stay motivated. What is the reason that you want to start decluttering? What impact will it have on you & others in your life?

  5. Celebrate

We don't celebrate often enough. We expect so much from ourselves & then when we achieve the things we have set for ourselves, we skim past it or bypass it like it was nothing. There is no reward for the effort put in. So pick something as a reward, it doesn't have to be huge it could be dinner out with a friend or soaking in a bath with a glass of wine. Just make time to celebrate & set the intention at the beginning ie: when I complete 30 days of Decluttering I will go to the movies

I would love to know how you get on with your decluttering, how it made you feel or share any before & after pictures if you are doing a specific room.
